Good coffee. Good food. Good for the planet. Serving Essex good coffee and 'accidentally' converting people to oat milk since 2022.
We're not here to be preachy, we're just here to serve really good food and coffee that just happens to be vegan.
We serve up coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, treats, and the occasional event thrown in for good measure. The kind of place you pop in for a coffee and accidentally stay for food.
Plant Faced opened in 2022 as a small family-run café, started by Harriet and her dad Stephen. Harriet brought 10+ years of hospitality experience, whilst Stephen joined the industry for the first time, bringing plenty of passion, (and very strong opinions!)
One thing they completely agreed on from day one: if we're doing this, the coffee has to be great, REALLY GREAT!
We didn't arrive with all the answers. We learned a lot along the way (and we're still learning). What we did have was a shared belief that vegan food should be exciting, comforting, and properly satisfying, not just an afterthought.
Since opening, we've:
Very quickly, Plant Faced became more than just a café. Community has always been at the heart of what we're building. We now host things like:
And, as of 2025, we have now launched art galley next door with the help of a family friend and Harriet's sister, Florence. It's become another space for creativity, events, and bringing people together. If you'd like to exhibit, or want to find out more information, pop us an email!
Plant Faced is a small team, with a lot of personality behind it!
10+ years experience in hospitality, a sugar enthusiast, and happiest when found right in the middle fo the chaos. Usually juggling about 17 things at once, but somehow keeping it all moving.
New to the hospitality industry, but definitely not new to strong opinions. Passionate, occasionally grumpy, and somehow involved in absolutely everything. Claims he could convert anyone with one bite of his tofu scramble.
Our resident style queen and pretty much one of the family. If something looks particularly beautiful or Instagram-worthy, chances are that Tash had something to do with it.
Quirky, in the best possible way! If a conversation suddenly turns into a completely hypothetical situation, Paige probably started it.
Mini Harriet energy: small, mighty, keeps us all in check… and our resident feeder. If there’s dinner in the fridge, you can bet Lauren brought it.
Our resident Saturday hero. Mostly here for his lunch (normally Stephen's scramble) but absolutely smashed the kitchen shift. Has zero patience for Paige's hypotheticals.
Harriet's partner, and one of the OGs who helped get Plant Faced off the ground. A massive help in the early days, and someone we're very grateful for.
The newest member of the team, and Harriet and Mark's baby. An attention seeker, who is already as comfortable in the kitchen as Harriet!
We love seeing new faces and regulars too! It’s easy, we’ll handle the coffee, you just bring yourself, friends and family!
